KARACHI / ISLAMABAD: Prior to the completion of vote counting for national and provincial assembly elections, leaders from several prominent political parties convened meetings late Friday night, ostensibly aiming to secure enough support to establish governments at the federal level and in the four provinces.

During a speech on Friday evening, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif announced that he had entrusted his brother, former PM Shehbaz Sharif, with the task of engaging with major parties such as PPP, MQM-P, and others to explore the possibility of forming an alliance.

In line with this initiative, Shehbaz held discussions with PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari and his son, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, at the residence of Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, according to sources informed Dawn.
