President Dr. Arif Alvi has asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of the Opposition Raja Riaz Ahmed to propose a caretaker Prime Minister within the next 24 hours as required under article 224-A of the Constitution. In a letter written on Friday to the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly, the President said the Constitution requires proposing of a caretaker Prime Minister by them within three days of the dissolution of the National Assembly.
