Following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement on Tuesday, just a few weeks before the start of the holy month of Ramadan, that the poor would receive free wheat flour as part of the “Ramadan package,” the government has finally decided to offer some relief to the nation’s people who are suffering from high inflation.

According to sources, the fasting month would reportedly start on March 23 or 24.

In the first part of the special Ramadan package, free flour would be given to the disadvantaged residents of Punjab, according to PM Shehbaz, who was speaking at a review meeting in Islamabad.

Also, he instructed the appropriate authorities to develop a plan as soon as possible to provide needy families receiving the cargo-free flour.

According to him, the federal government will provide the provinces its full assistance to help them implement the Ramadan package like Punjab did first which is designed to help the underprivileged.

Continued accessibility to food sources

On February 13, Premier Shehbaz gave the authorities orders to guarantee the continued supply of food across the nation and to take action against hoarders.

Moreover, he ordered the creation of special committees to improve the supply chain and keep an eye on the prices of essential goods. He said that the nation had plenty of necessities, especially wheat.

In the next review session, the prime minister requested that the provinces and administrative units present a comprehensive plan for “Sasta Ramadan Bazaars” and the provision of essential goods at low prices during the holy month of fasting.

He had said that the administration could use technology to ensure the consistency of prices at Ramadan bazaars.
